Get a readiness checklist
Before a visit is booked, ask which cabinets, panels and appliances must be installed, secured or available. If other trades are still working, agree who confirms that the room is ready.
Tell the fabricator about any planned changes to the sink, hob, taps or layout. An out-of-date drawing or missing appliance specification can leave questions unresolved at the visit.
Know what you are approving
Ask how dimensions, joints, visible edges and cut-outs will be recorded. Review the final drawing against the kitchen plan, and raise uncertainties before signing off manufacture.
Agree a point of contact for changes. If a cabinet or appliance specification changes after measurement, ask the fabricator what must be rechecked rather than assuming the original template still applies.
Coordinate the installation day
Discuss access, parking, room preparation and the delivery route. Confirm who will protect surrounding finishes, remove waste and reconnect the sink or hob. Make each responsibility explicit in the scope.
No standard turnaround is promised here. The provider, material, layout and site readiness all need to be confirmed before a date can be agreed. Ask what happens if another part of the kitchen project is delayed.
For an existing kitchen, also review the replacement worktop scope so removal and reconnections are considered.
Common questions
How long will I be without a worktop?
Ask the chosen installer to confirm the sequence for your project in writing. Timing depends on the chosen material, kitchen readiness and installation scope.
