Separate the surface from the complete job
A headline material price does not tell you the cost of a finished kitchen. Include the material, fabrication details, templating, delivery and installation in your enquiry so the proposed scope is clear.
For a replacement, list removal, disposal and any plumbing, electrical work or wall repairs separately. Clarify which items the provider covers, which involve other trades and whether VAT is included.
- Exact manufacturer or stone, colour, finish and thickness.
- Number of runs, an island or peninsula, and approximate dimensions.
- Sink and hob cut-outs, exposed edges, joints and wall treatment.
- Delivery route, floor level and access restrictions.
Identify provisional items
An initial estimate may be based on your sketch rather than a site visit. Ask which assumptions remain provisional, when dimensions are confirmed and what triggers a revised quote.
If one price is lower, check whether it uses the same material, edge detail and included work. Ask for an explanation of differences rather than assuming one provider is offering an equivalent package.
Bring your budget into the conversation
Share your target budget with Stone Worktops Harrow if you have one, along with the layout and materials you like. The full project scope helps make a price discussion useful.
Keep the written quotation, payment terms and exclusions together. Do not schedule dependent trades on the basis of an unconfirmed installation date.
Retaining your cabinets? Include the checks on our replacement worktops page in your price enquiry.
